September 26, 2005 -- Check out pictures from this past
Fangoria Weekend of Horrors. We got to meet the gang from
Project Greenlight's Feast!
September 19, 2005 -- Some more Rapturious
pictures are online featuring me, Joe Bob Briggs and Kevin Van
Hentenryck. You can also read the
interviews with Mike Gingold and Brian Spears (fresh off the set of
Shadow: Dead Riot) that are featured in the Spring 2005 Issue #26 of
Blood Moon Rising magazine. And, be sure to check out my latest
software reviews targeted at the low budget filmmaker over on
MidHudsonFilm.com.
Finally, congratulations to Brett Fallon (Fairview Falls) for snagging
the lead role in Ted Bohus' new movie
Hell On Earth
that wrapped this past summer. The same goes for makeup artists Dana
Elder (Fairview Falls) and Brian Spears. I recommended them to
Kevin Spacey's independent production company, Trigger Street Independent.
Mr. Gibb wrapped this past August but not before Dana had a chance to
make some new contacts. It looks like she may be on the fast track to
even better things. I'm not sure when it will be released but keep an
eye open when you see it. Fear of the Dark's Kirk Larsen has a
cameo as a video store owner.
September 18, 2005 -- Pictures
from the Terror Cards XL shoot are now online in the Light & Dark
Gallery. A link to order the Terror Cards is also now in the online
Store. The cards are not listed
yet on their web site so they may not be available to order yet. We
will be premiering them a the Fangoria
Weekend of Horrors convention on 9/24 and 9/25 where they will be
available for purchase. Also, be sure to check out
Brian Spears' latest prop pictures and
makeups from Lycanthrope and Rapturious. There's some really cool
stuff! You can take a look at the Fangoria article on Shadow: Dead
Riot too featuring Brian's makeup on the cover. And speaking of
which, don't forget to join us On Saturday, October 1st at 10:15 PM (come
earlier) for a special screening of Shadow: Dead Riot followed by a
Q&A with Michael Gingold and Brian Spears. The screening will take
place at the
Putnam County International Film & Video Festival. Michael
Saladino's Ominous music video "13 Years of Pain" will screen on Sunday,
October 2nd at 3:05 PM. Go behind the scenes of the music video in
The Anatomy of Horror 6: The Making of a Death Metal
Music Video. Finally, for a good laugh, be sure to read
Mike Lane's
commentary on the cast/crew/director's commentary we recorded
recently for the 5th Anniversary Edition of Fear of the Dark.
September 13, 2005 -- This past weekend turned out pretty
interesting. Buddy, Brian Spears asked me to assist him on a makeup
job for Kamal Ahmed's (of the Jerky Boys fame) movie Rapturious.
We arrived in Queens at 4:30 PM for a 5 PM call time. After some minor
location mix-ups we arrived on set to discover that we wouldn't be needed
until about midnight. So I occupied my time with grabbing snippets of
footage of the location's surroundings for extra coverage for a few of my
upcoming movies. We were on the fifth floor of a psychiatric hospital.
The locale was pretty disturbing, something you might expect to find in a
Hellraiser movie. After a few hours of waiting Kamal suddenly
appeared in our makeshift makeup room and asked me if I could act.
Before I could give an answer he turned to Brian and asked if I could
deliver a line. Brian said yes and Kamal turned back to me announcing
that I would play an orderly. What followed was one of the coolest
experiences that I have had to date. I got to force the lead actor,
Rob Opal, into a
straight jacket and deliver a line opposite Joe Bob Briggs, Debbie Rochon
(American Nightmare), Kevin Van Hentenryck (Basket Case) and the guy who
smothered Luke Perry in HBO's Oz. Twenty years ago I was
watching Basket Case on Joe Bob's Drive in Theater and now
here I was, present day, in a scene with them while being directed by one of
the funniest guys I laughed my ass off listening to just about every day on
my way to college. And what a better way to make my first movie debut
in someone else's movie than to appear on film - 16mm to be exact.
Yea, it was great day despite the fact that we were there until after 6 AM
and didn't get home until after 8 AM. Welcome to the movie biz.
September 9, 2005 -- It's been a while since the last update.
I apologize if you have had any problems getting on this site. The web
hosting company has been experiencing problems with the server. Things
are busy as usual here at Light & Dark. We are currently working on
the 5th Anniversary Edition of Fear of the Dark. It's a
special director's cut with a few new surprises in the form of updated
footage, tweaks, new bonus material and a cast/director's running
commentary. Keep watching for more news about the new features.
We are hoping for a spring/summer 2006 release. Now is the time to buy
a copy of Fear of the Dark. The existing cut will not be
available for much longer.
Sins of the Father is in post production and will be followed by
Fairview Falls. We hope to complete post production on Sins
in late winter and then put together the bonus materials and commentary so
that come spring we can begin seeking distribution.
I am proud to announce that Necroscope LLC has chosen Isabelle Stephen and
myself for their latest Terror
Cards XL release. Check back soon to see pictures of these
exciting new trading cards. They will be premiering at the upcoming
Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention on
September 24th and 25th. Light & Dark will have two tables and be
there representing the Terror Cards and Brain Damage Films.
Brain Damage is sending us their latest titles and merchandise so be sure to stop by and
check out the selection.
Brian Spears will have a table next to us hawking his latest props.
Now's the perfect time to pick up that body part you have always wanted.
They are a must for any Haunted House Attraction. Speaking of Brian,
be sure to pick up Fangoria Issue #246 while it's still on the newsstand.
There's a feature article on Shadow: Dead Riot. Props to his
work making the cover.
Shadow: Dead Riot will be playing at the Putnam County International
Film & Video Festival that I co-direct on Saturday, October 1st at 10:15 PM.
Brian and Fangoria's Managing Editor and Shadow writer, Michael
Gingold will be there representing. Click
here for details.
And finally, the Ominous music video "13 Years of Pain" that Brian did makeup for is
online at On the Point Films (The Tenement's "Junky", Mike Saladino's
production company) . It features No Trespassing 2: No Exit's
Nicole Berlingeri. A featured section called Anatomy of Horror 6:
The Making of a Death Metal Music Video will be coming soon on Light & Dark.
It's not really a horror music video. There's a face peel in though
and we did have a bloody good time -- ba dum dum, cymbal crash.
