What happened in the Light & Dark universe

October 19, 2000 -- This past weekend was a great success.  We shot 2 pick-up shots as well as 2 new scenes.  Joe really stepped up the black humor in the scenes with some great ad-libbing as did the newest addition to the cast, Michael Gingold.  Michael, when he's not lending a hand on a film or two in his spare time, is the Managing Editor of Fangoria Magazine.  I was delighted with his much prepared speech that he invoked during one of the new scenes.  All in all, the day went considerably smooth.  It was a much more relaxed feel since the new opening scenes allowed much more free reign for the actors.  We laid out the basis for the scenes but did not script every word of dialogue.  The day ended with the much anticipated title sequence shoot which involved a 8x10 frame constructed from 2x4's and a white sheet.  I won't give away what the sequence is because I think it's really cool and it has to be seen to really be enjoyed.  Michael inspired me so much with a bit of ad-lib dialogue that we are once again shooting what should be the final extra scene on Sunday.  The scene also figures into the title sequence.  Last but not least, due to the film's much for intense opening, I felt that it was necessary to go back and take a closer look at the ending.  We will also shoot and additional ending on Sunday as well.  The movie is very much two-toned now.  It opens with much for visceral murders than what we see in the rest of the film but they are lightened with far less moody dialogue.  The rest of the mood of the film is very dark yet the murders, though unexpected, are not as gory or at least not as graphic visually.  At least I don't think they are.  The movie has evolved now that not only is it very much a  story about Alice but it is a story about the Black Rose Killer as well.  The opening is fairly long before we get to Alice's story but I think that it serves to really show why the Killer should be feared and the chaos that the Killer created.  The opening now parallels the rest of the story as well so that now hopefully with the new ending it will bring things full circle and with greater completion.  It certainly will be a more theatrical ending.  New pictures will be coming soon so keep checking back with us.

October 7, 2000 -- We went back and shot some additional footage this past weekend.  The new footage was for an extended opening sequence.  It serves to dramatize the events leading up to the actual story.  It gives the killer more of a back story and makes the killer look like one bad-ass mother f*cker.  The new scenes introduce some fresh new talent.  Stephen Bronzo plays the Sergeant and Joseph Baxter plays his bumbling sidekick.  Anthony's Eikner's brother Walter joins the cast as a detective as well as his mother, Connie, who plays a jogger.  Stephen Webber rounds out the cast as the crime scene photographer.  Last but not least the victims were played by Danielle Russo (Janice) and newcomer Paul Cooper.  Next week will conclude shooting with Danielle Russo.  We will also shoot a murder scene with Mark Yonick who is the stuntman in the killer costume for most of the movie.  We had a lot of fun doing the new scenes which were almost interrupted by the police.  They were called onto the scene due to a disturbance created by some kids into the area.  Needless to say that it did not look good when they showed up to find three men in suits with guns and a guy covered in blood.  All went well once they realized it was for a movie shoot.  Hopefully next weekend goes without a hitch.  Check out the pictures from last weekend's shoot in the Fear of the of the Dark Photo Gallery section online.
