What happened in the Light & Dark universe

November 28, 2001 -- There are lots of new goodies that have been added to the site.  You can now download movie clips, music videos and trailers for Fear of the Dark and The Family Tree.  There are also new additions to the Fear of the Dark Soundtrack section as well.  We also have a clip from our wedding demo for those of you who are interested in our other services.  Don't forget about the open casting session that is on December 13th.  Details are in the Auditions section.  Directions are now on the site.  Finally, check out the new Message Board (that replaces the America Online one).  You can post your own messages regarding local events, etc.

November 19, 2001 -- We had the first meeting of the Mid-Hudson Film and Artist Group this past week.  I thought it was a successful turnout for the first meeting.  It certainly was a lot of fun.  The next meeting will be on Thursday, December 13th at 8 PM.  I will be conducting an open casting call for the latest movie projects.  It is a great chance to see how the process works if you have never been to an audition before.  Actors and actresses should bring a recent photo or headshot and a resume if available.  We have had an excellent response to our ads for cast members so far.  It's great to know that there are so many talented people in the area.

November 8, 2001 -- The Westchester Film Group will meet next on November 28, 2001 at 7:30 PM at Westchester Community College Media Arts Building Room 222 for a studio tour and a demonstration of Apple's Final Cut Pro version 2.0.  Westchester County has announced their third annual film festival.  Details can be found in the NY Film Groups section of this site.

November 2, 2001 -- It's been a long month for me.  I have had a lot of catching up to do.  October was a big month.  Here's a recap.  I was on News 12 Westchester promoting my movies and the festival.  Both Fear of the Dark and The Family Tree won awards at the Putnam County Film and Video Festival.  We also proudly introduced the Mid-Hudson Film and Artists Group.  What better way to round out the month than with a successful weekend at the Chiller Theatre convention.  C.J. DiMarsico, Vanessa Edwards, Mike Gingold, Rosemary Gore, Mike Lane, Danielle Russo, Sal Sirchia, Mark Yonick, my wife Diana and I attended the convention where we had a table.  Attendees young and old stopped by our table and had nothing to say but good things about what they saw.  The gerbil scene, as always was a big attention getter as was the disembowelment scene.  In fact, these two scenes were the highlight of the show.  A security guard stopped by at one point requesting that we turn off the demo tape that was playing stating that it was too disgusting.  And, an animal rights activist flipped out at the gerbil scene refusing to believe that it wasn't real even after carefully explaining how the effect was done.  I even was told by a real crime photographer that the photos of the murders that I had taken looked all too real.  Thus the convention in my book was a success.  Judith O'Dea (Barbara from Night of the Living Dead) remarked that the disembowelment scene that pays homage to Night of the Living Dead was great.  Check out the Hall of Fame (and the Light & Dark Gallery) for lots of pictures from the show.  The real highlight of the weekend wasn't going to a private party with Tom Savini (horror fx) and Reggie Bannister (Phantasm) but dinner at an Outback Steak House with Reggie Bannister afterwards.  I want to take a moment to say just how courteous and down to earth Reggie is.  He is one of the nicest people that you would ever have the pleasure of meeting.  Next week I start on the bonus features for the Fear of the Dark DVD.  And in two weeks I am going to sit down and work on the screenplay for The Tenement - my next feature length movie which will be a horror anthology (yes, my first true one hundred percent horror movie).  I will begin filming (or as Mike Gingold would have me say, "videotaping" because it's not being shot on film)  as early as December.  Check the casting page out because there will be lots of roles available.  Shooting hopefully will be wrapped by August followed immediately by a shoot for a short entitled, Sins of the Father which ties into Fear of the Dark and The Tenement.  We will be at both the January 5th and 6th Fangoria Weekend of Horrors convention in Brooklyn as well as the next Chiller Theatre convention to be held April 19-21.  Interesting note - Judy Burrett is now going to be a Private is the United States Army reserves.  Congratulations!  Finally, don't forget the November 15th meeting of the Mid-Hudson Film and Artists Group.
