May 16, 2004 -- These past 2 weeks have been pretty rough.
We have finalized a lot of casting and locations.
It was no easy chore. Some roles are still not set in stone due to actor
conflicts. We're 3 weeks away from rehearsal and 4 weeks away from
principal photography for Fairview Falls. We may shoot some of
the preacher scenes in the next 2 weeks to save time. If everything goes
as it should, it will mean a total of 16 shooting days when all is said and
done. Fear of the Dark was 14 principal days of photography.
The Tenement was a mess due to conflicts, weather and illnesses. Sins
of the Father went pretty smooth but that's because it required very few
locations. Fairview Falls has 23 shooting locations luckily all
within 10 minutes of each other. This is the reason why I just finished
a shooting schedule which I have to get out to the actors today.
Hopefully the weather will not screw us up this summer. September is my
rain date month. We shoot from June 12th to August 28th pretty much
every weekend.
Actor Joe Lauria just recently
sustained a severe eye injury which forced me to move back his scenes to later
in the summer in the hope that he will be able to reprise his Alec role and
not have to be recast.
I just met with Gene Mazza, Brian
Spears and Light & Dark newcomer, Dana Elder on Saturday for a 4 hour makeup
effects budget meeting. The outcome was pretty good. I'm
happy that not many shots will have to be changed.. One shot change was
due to concerns for safety for a gunshot scene in the movie's finale.
Another change was made for budgetary reasons. I want to try to due a
pretty authentic suicide scene. To get some of the shots I want would
mean that arms casts would need to be made for prosthetics. Costs needed
to be cut in some places and that was one of them. So we will shoot that
scene a little different to achieve a similar effect.
The Tenement is still selling well.
It ought to with all the post publicity time I put into it which delayed
Fairview Falls preproduction. Fear 0f the Dark is seeing a
resurgence as a result. Some nice reviews are
being written about it.
That about wraps it up for now.
Keep watching the site for pictures from the forthcoming Fairview Falls.
Sins of the Father will see a release first. In the meantime,
pick up a copy of The Tenement and see how it all begins!
