March 27, 2004 -- Some late breaking news - Flesh for the
Beast Director Terry West joined forces with
Insane-O-Rama (Strange Things
Happen at Sundown from Brain
Damage Films) to form Grindhouse Junkies. The first flick to be
turned out will be Satan's School Girls which Terry sees as Satan's
School For Lust done the way he wanted it to be. It's not a sequel,
prequel or anything else but a new project. Gene
Mazza of Decay NY FX
(who worked on The Tenement and Sins of the Father) will be
doing some of the effects for the movie which is currently shooting.
March 26, 2004 -- Check out the Illusion
Music Video that I produced and edited a while ago! Please note that
the Art & Photo Gallery has been renamed to Light & Dark Gallery since it now
includes video.
March 25, 2004 -- It's been a while since my last update so
naturally there is a lot to fill you all in on. For starters, I want to plug a
number of people new and old.
I want to wish Rosemary Gore the
best of luck. Her career has taken off so she's moving to LA the end of this
month. The Light & Dark universe would never have been the same without her
dramatic portrayal of Alice Walker.
Brian Spears and Pete Gerner have been keeping busy. They just wrapped makeup
and effects work in North Carolina on The Young Adventures of Van Helsing.
Sal Sirchia is as busy as ever. He
has a big role in a new movie called "Coalition" starring Chuck Zito, Michael
Wright and Anthony Chisholm (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0398873/). Meanwhile he found time to write a theme for Fairview Falls that will shoot
this summer. You can check it out at
http://www.lightanddark.net/pr90.htm.
Pete Barker opens April 1st for a
five weekend run in "Brando," a new play being presented at the Irish Arts
Center in New York (West 51st St., 10/11 Aves.) The gimmick in the play is a
phone that was a wedding present to a young couple. It only rings in and when
it does, it's Marlon Brando on the other end. Pete plays the dead father of
the young man and can only be seen and heard by him. And don’t let his
cancer-ridden look from Sins of the Father fool you. Pete is heading to Boston
this weekend to compete in the US National Indoor Track & Field Championships
where he’ll be throwing the shot-put and weight against men in his age group.
Mike Lane just wrapped the lead
role of Richard Newman in NYC Visions Films' independent short The Edge of
Despair. Check out his web page at
www.mikelaneonline.com.
I also want to welcome some new faces to Light & Dark. Kerri Taylor is a model
and actress that I think we will be seeing a lot more of in the future. Kerri
will be playing Tina in Fairview Falls.
http://www.onemodelplace.com/model_list.cfm?ID=39743
Brittney Evans was cast as Alicia in
Fairview Falls. She comes from horror royalty. Her grandmother is Susanna
Foster (Christine) who played opposite Claude Rains in the 1943 Universal
Studios Phantom of the Opera.
Recently, both Kerri and Brittney modeled for a "special" project that both
Fangoria Managing Editor Michael Gingold and myself put together. I can't say
what it is yet but you'll be the first to know once we can.
On the movie front, The Tenement
comes out FINALLY on April 13th from Brain Damage Films. It will be hitting a
number of online stores including LightandDark.net where we will offer
something extra to the fans that buy it from us. The movie will be sold in the
Hastings Entertainment, Inc. chain that is composed of 142 stores. Rentrak
will be handling some of the rental end of it to the "mom & pops" and smaller
chains. The Tenement has also secured a 5-year distribution deal
in Benelux (Belgium) and has a pending deal with Thailand. We will be at the
Chiller Theatre show on April 23 - 25.
www.chillertheatre.com.
The Tenement has been
receiving great reviews. You can check them out at
http://www.lightanddark.net/pr78.htm. The Tenement has a
great review in this month's Hacker's Source magazine. It's also featured in
the Video Chopping List of Fangoria Magazine's April issue on sale now.
Sins of the Father's release
has been delayed to Fall/Winter so that we can focus our marketing on The
Tenement and gear up for preproduction on Fairview Falls. I want to
spend quality time on Sins of the Father and not rush it.
Fairview Falls will be my fourth
feature length movie and the first movie that steps outside the circle of the
Black Rose Killer trilogy that started with Fear of the Dark. It still
exists in the same universe though. Special thanks to Mike Gingold, Mike Lane, Gene Mazza,
Jude Pucillo and my wife Diana for helping me out with the pretty
successful open casting call that we recently held.
I'm happy to announce that interest
in Fear of the Dark has increased since The Tenement has been getting so much
attention. I just had a blast doing an Internet radio broadcast the
other day on
www.socialcrime.com.
I just want to plug two more very
talented people that I hope to be working with - David Aaron and Brynne
Calleran. David (who has worked with Disney) has 2 CDs out which are must
haves. Check out some samples at
www.davidaaron.net. I had the pleasure of first meeting Brynne this past
July. She's seventeen but you would never know it. She has a voice and lyrical
styling well beyond her years. Hopefully we'll be able to get a sample of her
first CD on our site for you to listen to. In the meantime, you can check her
out at www.brynnecalleran.com. That's
it for now.
