What happened in the Light & Dark universe

June 20, 2001 -- The new $7 million Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, New York will finally open to the public on Thursday, June 21.  It made its debut with a private star studded gala opening featuring celebrity attendees such as Christopher Reeve, Glenn Close, Vanessa Williams and film director Ang Lee.  The center will be run by Executive Director Stephen Apkon.  You can call the film center for more information regarding its upcoming itinerary as well as to obtain membership information.  Meanwhile yours truly has got into his head to try and get a film short done in time for the July deadline for the Putnam County Film and Video Festival.  Wish me luck!

June 11, 2001 -- Check out the Light & Dark Gallery for the latest additions.  You'll see what I was working on this past weekend.  Mark Yonick is celebrated as the Black Rose Killer in a mock photo shoot.  I said I wouldn't do anymore but I did anyway.  This past weekend we also shot what should definitely be the very last pick up shot for the movie.  It includes a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.  You can get a sneak peek at the scene in both the Light & Dark Gallery and the Fear of the of the Dark Photo Gallery sections of the web site.  Finally, congratulations to Rosemary Gore.  She booked two jobs for GlaxoSmithKline's "Paxil": two national print ads, which will be shown in all major magazines (in distribution by the end of July); and a Principal role in the national network commercial.  You can also check out the latest press from another film she stars in entitled "Sharp & Sudden" by clicking on this link.

June 3, 2001 -- There have been a lot of additions to the web site particularly in the Light & Dark Gallery.  Check out the steamy picture of upcoming, sexy scream queen Danielle Russo in the Fear of the of the Dark Photo Gallery section.  I'm still hard at work on editing Fear of the Dark.  It looks like the debut won't be until the end of the summer.  But that is fine by me since it looks like we will be set up at the Chiller Theatre convention to debut the movie.  Speaking of Chiller Theatre, pictures are now posted from the Spring 2001 show in the Hall of Fame.  We appreciate all the you fans who have sent encouraging letters and email.  Be sure to check out the new Guest Book and leave a comment of your own.  Good ones I hope!  And speaking of appreciation, I want to take a moment to mention someone who has gone unnoticed.  Ken Frost, a friend of mine was one of the first people to work on Fear of the Dark's soundtrack.  He created a rather haunting melody which I have yet to get right with any other band member.  Unfortunately for me, but fortunate for Ken, he moved away for a job opportunity.   The music is now in my archives and hopefully will become a part of the movie.  The music's is reminiscent to such greats as The Exorcist and Halloween in that it is simplistic yet quite effective in evoking emotion.  Hopefully, I will be able to get a clean version of it on the web one of these days for all to enjoy.  Last but not least, a lady by the name of Maryann Arrien, beat me to the punch in forming a Putnam County Film and Video Festival.  They are currently taking submission on videotape with a July 15 deadline.  The first festival is scheduled to be held at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center off Dennytown Road in Putnam Valley, New York on October 6 and 7, 2001.  For more information, contact her Arrien at braintrust@usa.com.  Though I am not involved with this organization, I hope to be.  Please also visit the Westchester Film Group's web site.  It's great to see so many new filmmakers like myself finally getting the opportunity to show the material in more accessible venues.  For those of you who have inquired about our next tentative project, Watching the Detectives, unfortunately it has been put on the backburner.  Steve Bronzo, who appears in Fear of the Dark, suffered a heart attack.  I'm happy to say that I hear he is doing much better.  Another reason for the delay being the post production of Fear of the Dark taking longer than it should have due to some technical difficulties and additional shooting.  Lastly, because of the scope of the next project is much larger and shooting it correctly with the corresponding seasons is a problem when shooting would begin late in the summer, it would not be feasible to do it until next year.  Anthony Eikner is going to work on a few projects while I will as well.  We may help each other in a smaller capacity on said projects until we join again on the Detectives project.  If you really want to gain a better appreciation of the trials and tribulations of making a movie, I highly suggest watching American Movie.  Once again, thank you all for your support.  I turn 30 next week.  I never thought I would make it this far.  I'll be happy when I see the movie finished and on the big screen or some screen at this point.
