What happened in the Light & Dark universe

July 22, 2006 --

Great news!  Score one for the independent filmmakers.  Some of you may have read in the past about how unhappy I was when a 2 pack deal with Fear of the Dark and The Tenement fell through.

Fear of the Dark was later targeted to be included in a box set with other producer's movies.  While I am not a fan of these box sets myself, I certainly have nothing against them.  I didn't have a problem with the movie going into the box set as long as it saw a separate release with all of its bonus materials intact.

The box sets passed me by while I continued to work with Brain Damage Films on a solution to release Fear of the Dark as a solo special edition DVD.  Finally, we have seen the light at the end of the tunnel.  Brain Damage has agreed to release the movie with all of the Fear of the Dark related extras on October 3rd.  They kept their word that they would work with me on getting this released intact and I very much appreciate it.

The great thing about this whole negotiation process is that it has paved the way for a new Brain Damage Films business model that will ultimately help other producers find an outlet to release their movies that might otherwise not exist.

Read all about the new special edition DVD release on Fangoria's web site:

On a different note, take a look at a very funny video from Stuffmagazine.com featuring Mike Valenzano (Fairview Falls).

Finally, check out the articles on Fangoria. com.  Brian Spears and Peter Gerner recently worked on Return to Sleepaway Camp.
