December 7, 2003 -- What a day yesterday was! You
know what they say about the best laid plans. Try doing a DVD commentary
the day of a major snow storm. Most of the cast couldn't make it.
Two thumbs up to those who could. A very special thanks goes out to
Scooter McCrae (Shatter Dead) who came all the way up from Brooklyn,
equipment in tow, to record the commentary for me at my apartment. The
final list of participants was, myself (director), my wife (production
assistant/Red), Mike Lane (Jimmy Wayne Garrick), John Sudol (Henry Wallace),
Jude Pucillo (the Super) and Mike Gingold (Managing Editor of Fangoria
magazine/Winston Korman). I'm pretty happy with the results. I
think it ended up being a very entertaining commentary. You all can be
the judge of that come April 8th.
December 4, 2003 -- I am very excited to announce that The
Tenement will be getting distributed by
Brain Damage Films. We signed on
for a USA/Canada and international distribution agreement. I decided
that this was the next step. It was too limiting to try to
self-distribute.
The domestic street date is on April
13,
2004. It will be available for sale at www.lightanddark.net and may be available
through other online sites as well. It will certainly be available at
the April Chiller Theater convention in East Rutherford, NJ (www.chillertheatre.com).
The movie's final running time is 118
minutes. The DVD will have nearly an hours worth of Bonus material as
well as a running commentary featuring most of the cast and crew.
The Bonus material includes five
deleted scenes, an alternate opening, 2 alternate endings, bloopers & behind
the scenes, a photo gallery with a music video, the featurette "Anatomy of
Horror: the making of a mask," the movie trailer, and the Light & Dark
Publicity Tour (gags and appearances based around the movie). I wanted
to put out the best possible product that we could. I hope you will all
enjoy it. Look for some special offers to appear on our web site as the
street date gets closer! Cross your fingers and wish us luck that we
make it into Blockbuster and Hollywood Video. A special thanks goes out
to Kevin Clement for letting us use the original Chiller Theatre "6
fingered hand" opening.
What lies ahead on Light & Dark's
busy schedule? This weekend we will be recording the DVD commentary and
sending the finished product off to Brain Damage Films next week. Then I
sit down and make sure that the screenplay matches up word for word with the
final cut of the movie so that it can be used as a reference for subtitles
when it goes internationally.
January 9th through the 11th we
will be at the Sheraton Meadowlands in East Rutherford, NJ for the Fangoria
Weekend of Horrors. Info is on
www.chillertheatre.com. Come meet the cast and crew. We will
have a special raffle giveaway. We will also be accepting headshots and
resumes in person for our next movie Fairview Falls. We may even
have another casting session by appointment. Check back here for
details.
This winter I will be working on
post production for Sins of the Father which we are targeting for
a Spring release unless we get picked up by a distributor. I'll also be
working on the screenplay for Fairview Falls. It's going to be a
busy season as usual for me. There's never a dull moment. We have
some great pictures that will be coming soon from the Chiller Theatre
convention and our latest photo session with Judy Burrett.
