What's going on in the Light & Dark universe

April 23, 2002 -- Check out the radio interview with Sal Sirchia discussing his involvement with Fear of the Dark and The Tenement!

April 22, 2002 -- What a weekend!  The Chiller Theatre expo was a lot of fun.  Light & Dark cast members new and old were present.  Check out the pictures in the Hall of Fame.  We unveiled the new trailers featuring footage that has been shot so far for Sins of the Father and The Tenement.  Be sure to check them out.  With May closing in fast, yours truly has to get in gear and finish up The Tenement screenplay so that I can begin work on the screenplay for Sins of the Father.  I have had about 18 hours of sleep in the last five days.  What a nightmare but it sure is a fun nightmare!

April 16, 2002 -- We pulled no punches this past weekend.  We had two successful full days of shooting.  We shot two chase sequences for Winston's Korman's fictitious movies that appear in the Fade to Black segment of The Tenement.  They turned out so well that they will be included as mini-movies when we finally go to DVD.  The first one is entitled No Trespassing and features a new killer called the Sistine Slasher.  The other one features yours truly as a killer affectionately known as Sling Blade Bob the Nursery Rhyme Killer in a twisted tale called Jack and Jill.  Stop by the Light & Dark table at Chiller this coming weekend to get a sneak preview of what's to come!

April 12, 2002 -- Putnam Valley Arts has launched its own official web site.  The submission application for the second annual Putnam County Film & Video Festival is now online.  The deadline for submission is July 31, 2002.

April 10, 2002 -- Check out the review of Fear of the Dark from the new issue of Blood Moon Rising in the Fear of the Dark Publicity section of the site.

April 9, 2002 -- There is lots of excitement flying around Light & Dark these days.  Prepare for some massive updates in content to the web site in the weeks ahead.  All of the music and songs that are available for download have been changed to MP3 for better quality.  The first actual movie pictures from The Tenement will be posted as well as new music by Gigi for Sins of the Father.

Chiller Theatre has its next expo starting April 19.  Be sure to stop by and check us out.  You can meet cast members and get a sneak preview of footage from the upcoming movie, The Tenement.  Cast members from the award winning Fear of the Dark and the upcoming Sins of the Father will be there as wellCast member appearances will include Suzi Leigh, Danielle Russo and Joe Lauria.

And speaking of Joe, what a disturbing performance he gave this past Sunday as Ethan Fernier, the Black Rose Killer.  We shot the finale for Ethan's story along with cast members Rachel Figliuzzi (Elizabeth Fernier) and Mike Gingold (Winston Korman).  Mike's portrayal of the nefarious director had us in stitches.  He really made him into the character that you will love to hate.  There is nothing sacred to Winston Korman.  He's a man that speaks his mind and Mike made certain of that bringing his own special touches to the character.  Dressed in a wispy white blouse that was far too thin for the cold Sunday afternoon, Rachel really made Ethan's and Winston's scene complete with her poignant portrayal of Ethan's sister.  The makeup effects and stunts for The Tenement will blow away anything you saw in Fear of the Dark.  Pete Gerner, Brian Spears and Gene Mazza have done an incredible job so far of bringing my vision to the screen.  And of course, I couldn't have gone through the day as smoothly had I not had the help of Ed Shelinksy who worked the second camera unit and was pretty much my right hand man.  A special thanks goes out to Maryann Arrien who let us user her house as Winston Korman's house.

But with every success comes a downfall.  The day started later than expected.  A few of us forgot to set our clocks ahead causing us to run late, Joe forgot to shave for the part and Ed's car broke down.  Once we got past that it seemed like smooth sailing until I checked the footage Monday night.  Due to an equipment failure, we lost the sound of about 3 minutes of critical irreplaceable footage.  This coming Sunday we are going to try to Foley it.  All in all though, we crammed a lot into a 10 hour day and the footage looks great.

Don't forget about this Thursday, April 11.  We are having a meeting of the Mid-Hudson Film and Artists Group at the VFW Hall in Putnam Valley at 8 PM.  Rich Redmond will be holding auditions for a short as part of the meeting.  We hope to see you there!
